There is strength in numbers. By representing the majority of licensed veterinary technicians within the State of Michigan, the Michigan Association of Veterinary Technicians (MAVT) gives every technician a voice. Legislative decisions and changes affecting the regulation and practice acts for Michigan veterinary professionals can only be lobbied for by state professional organizations such as the MAVT and the Michigan Veterinary Medical Association (MVMA). There’s never been a better time to become a member. As a veterinary technician, your voice counts!
Active Membership is open to all veterinary technicians licensed in the State of Michigan. Active Members are able to serve as officers and are allowed full voting privileges.
Associate Membership is open to students who are currently enrolled in a veterinary technology training program. Associate Members are not eligible to serve as officers nor are they allowed to vote in association matters, but Associate Members may serve on committees at the discretion of the executive board. Upon graduation and licensure by the State of Michigan, Associate Members may upgrade their membership to active status by submitting an application and a filing fee.
Affiliate Membership status is available to persons not eligible for Active, Associate, Hospital, or Corporate Membership, but who are still interested in supporting the association and promoting the veterinary technology profession. Affiliate Members are not eligible to serve as officers or allowed to vote in association matters. They may serve on committees at the discretion of the executive board.
The Hospital Membership category enables veterinary hospitals to register up to 5 licensed veterinary technicians from the same practice for $30 per LVT. Large hospitals with > 6 LVTs shall pay $30 per LVT for the first 5 technician memberships, but then shall pay only $25 per LVT for each technician membership beyond the 5th registrant. Hospital Membership is open to private veterinary practices interested in supporting and promoting the veterinary technology profession. A member veterinary practice shall be entitled to name each registered hospital representative, who shall have the rights and privileges accorded to Active or Affiliate Members respectively (according to individual eligibility.)
